SAINTWAH INC. designs and manufactures a wide range of railway freight and passenger diesel locomotives based on its own intellectual property. Flexible and economical, these locomotives embody decades of experience and expertise in manufacturing. Based on proven design and engineering standards, they can easily be tailored to individual customer needs. SAINTWAH INC. manufactures 4,660 kW diesel locomotives, the most powerful ones of its kind in the world.

The HX range of diesel-electric locomotives are a result of cooperation with GE and EMD. The 4,660 KW locomotives feature high tractive power capability for freight traffic.

The DF range of diesel-electric locomotives, with a four-stroke turbocharged diesel engine and AC/DC transmission, are the main types of main line locomotive for both passenger and freight traffic. They run on three-axle bogies with roller bearings. The traction motors are fully suspended with hollow shaft quill drive.

Models DF4D and DF8B are designed for heavy-duty freight trains, models DF4D, DF10F and DF11 for high-speed passenger service, and models DF5 and DF7 for shunting work. Model DF4DJ is equipped with AC traction equipment and IGBT converters.

The GK range of diesel locomotives are intended for shunting and industrial applications, and many of them have hydraulic transmission and have a B-B configuration to suit tight curves.

2.1 Locomotive Overview

The SDD6 type locomotive adopts AC-DC electric transmission, equipped with QSK60-L1 diesel engine, CDJF-201C main generator, and ZQDR-310 series traction motor. The diesel engine has a max service power of 1640kW, and adopts a microcomputer control system. The locomotive adopts outdoor corridor structure,has a single driver cab, a rolling axle holding three axis rotating frame, and a JZ-7 brake system. The maximum operating speed of the locomotive is 100km/h.

The rotor of the main generator is connected to the crankshaft of the diesel engine through a flexible disc, and the outer shell of the main generator is connected to the body of the diesel engine through a processed connection box. After the main generator and the diesel engine form an integral diesel generator set, they are elastically installed on the body to ensure the concentricity of the main generator and the diesel engine and reduce the vibration of the diesel generator set.

2.7 Cooling room

The upper part of the cooling room is equipped with a locomotive radiator, an expansion water tank, and two cooling fans driven by AC motors. The lower part of the cooling room is equipped with a traction motor ventilator and air filter, two screw air compressors, an air dryer, two main air reservoirs, an auxiliary electrical cabinet, and a brake valve cabinet.

The rear ceiling of the cooling room is equipped with locomotive headlights, horns, and two red warning lights.

The air entering the cooling room is separated from sand and dust through the maze window on the side door, and then enters the cooling room. Most of the air is blown towards the radiator through the cooling fan, and then discharged to the outside of the car through the roof pneumatic shutter window; The other part of the air is separated from sand and dust by a multi cyclone tube filter, and then blown into the air duct of the frame through a ventilator to cool the traction motor, preventing sand and dust from entering the traction motor and affecting its normal operation.
